I’m going to be telling you the best top 5 outdoor dates! Now, I am reporting this as we’re in the middle of a pandemic, so it has become more of a popular question and more relevant to our situation because indoor dining is closed and there are limited options to going out right now. Most of the time, many start with virtual dates. Once comfortable, they then plan a covid-friendly date.
Before the covid times, I will say outdoor dates still are really great even before the pandemic, because it’s so nice to have a day where you’re outside, there’s fresh air, it lifts your spirits more, it adds a very more positive energy to your date. So, just in general, if you’re even watching this after the pandemic, outdoor dates are amazing! But the true question is, what are the options? What can you do outside?…Except for dining outside. Let’s make it easier for you and talk about the top 5 best outdoor dates!

1. Explore Neighborhoods
The best outdoor date, and quite honestly, the best date overall (over ALL dates) is exploring neighborhoods, cities, villages, plazas, malls. Anywhere where you can just explore and walk around to visit different shops, maybe go in those shops. You can have discussions of what’s in there, what you like, maybe you can people watch]. But there’s so much to exploring, you are doing something and experiencing something together that is new.
Outdoor dates bring novelty and spontaneity
Yes, I say new, even if you’ve been there before. It could be an area where maybe she hasn’t explored before, so it’s really great because you get to show her these new place or new shops. If you both been there, it’s a different experience when you go together, because you’ll realize that maybe both of you see new things or saw new things that you didn’t before in that little area. It’s really great to just explore a place because you get to really know someone as they’re observing their environment, and you get to hear their response. Quite honestly, when you are exploring spontaneously and making decisions of where to go and what to do next, it adds to the connection and allows you to get to know each other.
2. Exploring the outdoors
Best outdoor date number 2 is exploring as well, but the outdoors! Hiking, walking, any kind of strolling through a trail or scenic view.Yes, it can be just walking. I used to say just hiking, but you don’t need to do something strenuous or a crazy trail. Go find any area with a beautiful scenic view, it could be a lake, a mountain, the ocean. Instead of basically exploring a city, which is what I previously said, now you’re just exploring the environment. It’s the same kind of energy and vibe, where you’re still walking side by side, and being able to observe what’s around you, instead this time, it’s just nature in itself.
Being side-by-side enhances the outdoor dates
The reason why I put the top two dates are dates where you’re just walking next to each other is because there has been research that stated people open up more when they’re side by side. Not staring at each other at a dinner table. It feels a bit like an interrogation. When you’re just sitting side by side or walking side by side, you open up more. That’s why walking in nature is a really great option as well.
3. Outdoor workout classes
Another great outdoor date is attending outdoor workout classes. These are fantastic! This is doing any activity together. It could be hard or easy. It could be an easy yoga class or it could be a hard circuit class. Whatever it is, those are popular right now. It could be donation-based, a one-time fee, or you may be have to join a membership. Whichever it is, you can definitely find it in your area. Just Google or go on Facebook and search in keywords, your city, and then outdoor workouts (you could find a list like this). If you want to do more of a specific activity like yoga, circuit training, weight training, they’re definitely out there. Especially now as all the gyms are outdoors. Take advantage of that. Doing activities together is amazing because you’re experiencing something crazy and another journey together that you can grow from and quite honestly get a good exercise from it too. So why not?
I don’t think you’d be surprised when I say one of the best outdoor dates are picnics. Picnics are amazing! It’s a way to dine, but obviously not indoors. You get to be more creative with it. Bring your own food, bring your own drinks, play games. Unlike the other activities, you don’t need to be walking the whole time, but you still get a beautiful view, you get to sit down, and have a nice chat. Picnics are really underestimated and understated. They are light-hearted, fun, and casual. Just pick a good spot, grab a blanket, and grab some food. Maybe tell her to bring her favorite snack, and then play a game together. Get creative!
5. Drive-in concerts and Drive-in movies
Last, but not least, we’re at best outdoor date number five…Drive-in concerts or movies. Those are a hit right now. You either stay in your vehicle or some venues allow you to go outside, but you have to stay within your area to keep everyone safe and socially distant. These are amazing because you still get to experience the movie theater, you get to experience live music without having to stay inside your home and listen to it on a TV. It’s an experience you can share with each other if you haven’t done it. It’s great if you love music, or you just want to watch a movie. For some places, you can bring in your own snacks and drinks. Once again, it’s like a picnic, except there’s entertainment.
Bonus great outdoor date idea: Carnivals
Let’s give you a bonus outdoor date! Another great outdoor date is any amusement park, carnival date. I say it’s a bonus because during this time, it’s harder to do that. However, they’re really great. If they are open, I highly suggest you do that because you get to be in your competitive spirit. There’s a lot of food to explore, it’s very playful and light, and it makes a really good date.
Hope that helps you in date planning. If you haven’t tried one, I suggest to do so. Make your dates fun and creative. And remember, it’s all about the connection and conversation during these dates. If you have that, everything will flow. Good luck on planning those dates out there during the pandemic or after.
